Inspirational Quotes Daily has been slowly increasing its presence in the Google Play store. The initial promotion of the app did significantly improve its position and seemed to be a waste of $70. Within the past two days, it has spiked from rank 222 to 92, as seen above in the graph from Sensortower.com, for unknown reasons. I want to suggest that this is because of the reviews and ratings it received during the initial promotion phase were finally calculated into its ranking, three weeks later. I'm going to release a new version with bug fixes next weekend (Sunday hopefully) and I'll look for a similar spike three weeks later.
The most interesting part of this analysis is my Admob network requests (not shown) because they have climbed five to ten times the normal amount of impressions in the past couple of days. It is normal for impressions to double from Thursday through Sunday. My small amount of downloads is not going to give the greatest amount of confidence as to why this is happening, but it is unlikely to be the doing of one or two users. In the next app update I'll install Google Analytics so I can give deeper reviews of what is going on.
